Gatsby is a super social boy. He gets lots of attention with his dapper shiny back tuxedo suit and white chest. His kind eyes showing his sweet nature. He loves his humans and never wants to be far from them. Gatsby has taken to pet life very quickly, learning to climb stairs, when to signal he needs a pee and that the vacuum cleaner is not that scary.
Gatsby is very bright and easy to train. He walks very well on lead and loves his car rides, particularly if its off to the cafe for his puppachino. At the cafe he is happy to lie on his mat and watch the world. He is also very easy to take on bigger adventures like camping or visiting friends for the weekend. As long as he is with you he is a happy camper.
In the home, Gatsby is a welcome housemate. He is polite and happy but maybe think twice about leaving that roast chicken on the kitchen bench. Some other household items might also miraculously appear in Gastby’s bed.
Gatsby likes at least one good walk, usually 30 to 45 minutes each day. He is also keen for an afternoon walk if you have time. If not, maybe some play time with you. On his walks, Gatsby is mostly confident but will be wary of strange or sudden noises, occasionally looking behind to make sure the are no monsters approaching. Someone has to be vigilant. Gatsby is happy to meet other dogs on his walks, content to greet them, have a sniff and move on.
Play dates with other dogs have been a delight for Gatsby. If he gets a chance to hang out with another dog in a yard he will chase and play with them. The humans can join in too as he enjoys nothing more than galoomphing after his people.
After a big day, Gatsby will look forward to just hanging out with his humans. If he is allowed on the couch he will enjoy a big cuddle while you watch some TV or read a book. Gatsby is also a very good work dog, particularly if you are working from home and he understands he can’t have all your attention, just so long as he can sleep beside you.
Gatsby has sensitive pads and has had grit removed twice. He usually wears boots on his walks which helps a lot. He is also very compliant, making it easy to pop them on.
Being a sensitive lad and not wanting to be home alone, Gastby is on a mild anti-anxiety medication Fluoxetine. This helps him cope for the short periods he is alone. It would be ideal for Gatsby to find a home with his humans home a lot. Another canine companion would be great too.
